Milan trip

I am updating this much later then I anticipated. Using the blog spot interface isn't very convenient on the tablet. So here I am trying to do it on my iphone. Will try from the tablet on the next post. So the Milan trip went very well :) I found the city to be more beautiful and interesting then I thought it would be. Everywhere one turns they come across history and beauty. I suppose not surprised considering artists such as Leonardo DaVinci and Michelangelo roamed the city. The highlight for us was the Duomo, which is the centerpiece of Milan. It's an outstanding structure of size and beauty. When we first lay eyes on it coming out of the metro...it astounded us. It's simply breathtaking. Not to be discounted is the inside and the terrace of the cathedral. Upon going inside the cathedral I was simply spellbound by the peacefulness of the place. The terraces are another marvel. Looking at the complexity of the structure makes you really appreciate the genius and hard work of those behind the building of this cathedral!
The Duomo square itself is really pretty. On side there is the Duomo and on another side we have the Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II. This is essentially a mall but looks nothing like it. The mall is in an old historic arcade with high ceilings and beautiful designs On the second day of our trip we had breakfast in a cafe in the mall. We had a yummy cappuccino and a chocolate brioche while looking at the beautiful square. A thoroughly memorable moment.
We also saw Teatro alla Scala. The museum was nice but the highlight was the beautiful opera theater! We also visited Sforza Castle where we saw some of Leonardo DaVinci's ceiling paintings and the last work by Michelangelo(which is unfinished).
The last stop we made before heading back to Stuttgart was "The last Supper". Housed next to the church Santa Maria Della Grazie is the famous painting by Leonardo. We had 15 min to see and appreciate the masterpiece. While looking at the painting I truly felt blessed and honored to be in the presence of such as painting :)
By the time we came to our new home (for next 3 weeks) in Stuttgart we were throughly exhausted and hungry. We ended eating maggi and falling asleep.
